It's for everyone.

Including your children. Play and no-stress musical exploration is one of the best ways to give music to them for life.  Most children around 9 or 10 can play and create with chords, and younger children can play more simply, but can still play along and make their own music.

This program focuses on your mastery of and comfort with Triads and 7ths in the context of every key they live in, and all inversions.  

For example: Cm, Db, Ebsus4, Dm7 (but not together—we will focus on being inside of a key, so that when you leave it, there is a context from which to depart!). 

Knowing not just how to the chords are constructed, but also which chords belong in each key innately without having to pause and think about it is crucial to actual musical growth and fluency. 

Having these foundational chords completely internalized first demystifies extended chords, (chords with notes added that extend beyond the 7th scale degree: Dma9#13, etc.). 

In case you don't know this, I like language comparisons.  Here's one:  when you know basic vocabulary words like: escape and the meanings of prefixes and suffixes, you don't need a dictionary to understand: inescapability. 

This class is designed for musicians of all skill levels, and not just pianists, but also for other instrumentalists or singers who recognize how essential it is for their musicianship to have command of chords and keys on piano.  Knowing the names of the piano keys and already having a little piano skill going in is helpful, but I've had students as young as 11 with just beginning piano skills who took off immediately with chords, transposing easily into each new key with confidence and creativity. Pretty cool!

These are not wrong, but they won't necessarily lead you to fluency.  

No matter which way you learn, if it is done without easily detecting and understanding the harmonic scaffolding underlying the music you play (IN NUMBERS) you cannot not grow your musicianship.  And every thing is unnecessarily frustrating, again it's like trying to read or memorize something in a language you don't yet speak.  

Actually, I teach a 6-month class offered once a year that magically pairs the 24 keys around Circle of Fifths with the 24 chapters of the Alice In Wonderland books.

So, in answer to your question, no.  Not to me.

My plan was to begin this program from Paris, where my son and I were in the process of relocating to when a family health emergency caused me to pause our plan.

But I will be there as soon as, and for as long as I can be. 

And for now, in dreams!
